Il punto interrogativo è d'obbligo in quanto la società casalese al momento dal proprio sito non conferma la notizia limitandosi a dire che da "martedì al PalaFerraris inizierà il work-out di Paulius Packevicius, lituano di Kaunas che nelle ultime tre stagioni ha giocato nella selezione della Rice University; l'ala-pivot lituana si allenerà con la prima squadra".
Invece girovagando su internet (nei siti specializzati sul basket dei college) si dice che Paulius Packevicius ha firmato un contratto triennale con la Junior Fastweb Casale Monferrato.
Cercando ulteriormente di approfondire, apprendo che potrebbe essere messo sotto contratto (due anni più uno) ma non è detto che sia nei programmi del roster 2008/09.
E' un centro ventitreenne, alto 2.04, nato a Kaunas in Lituania il 3 marzo 1985 che ha giocato in questi anni universitari nei Rice Owls. E' reduce da un infortunio che gli ha impedito di giocare l'ultimo scorcio di stagione. Nell'ultima gara giocata prima dell'infortunio il suo high stagionale con 20 rimbalzi ottenuti e 16 punti contro Houston. 9.8 è la media rimbalzi dell'ultima stagione (con 11,1 punti).
